Inventory Associate

Department: Financial Reporting
Location: Mokena, IL

SUMMARY: The Inventory Associate will report to the Inventory Control Manager. Data entry and record maintenance for all products and materials in the inventory system. Resolve discrepancies and communicate with operations team in order to keep accurate records.


  • Enter material receipts into inventory system to include cementitious material, aggregates, admixtures, fuel and bagged product while also tracking all freight costs.
  • Process vendor payment by validating material receipt to vendor invoice
  • Reconcile any exceptions found during invoice validation process which may include collaboration with the operations team.
  • Sort all material delivery tickets that are received in the mail.
  • Obtain approval for new material and freight costs or changes in cost.
  • Record material transfers and adjustments.
  • Update and maintain the inventory system with new products and locations.
  • Communicate professionally with all staff; incorporate acceptable computer use practices and proper email etiquette at all times. 


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required; BS/BA in accounting or relevant field preferred. 
  • Concrete, building supply or similar experience is preferred.
  • Critical thinking, data analysis and problem solving skills. 
  • Ability to understand and use multiple systems related to inventory control and capable of implementing and using new technology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in person, over the phone or email.
  • Adaptable and flexible as well as responds positively to challenges and deadlines.
  • Highly ethical, dependable, full of integrity and demonstration of Ozinga values.

Working Conditions:  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The typical day is an 8 hour daytime shift.

Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
