Internal Account Manager

Department: Marketing Communications
Location: Mokena, IL

Our Internal Account Manager will work directly with the leadership team of a key Ozinga business unit (i.e. concrete, materials & logistics, etc.) to ensure their marketing and communication needs are met. The account manager will serve as the direct link between the business unit, the internal marketing and communications team, and agency relationships in order to manage the day-to-day affairs of the business, ensure satisfaction, and maintain alignment with overall company goals.

As an Internal Account Manager, you will perform extensive research and learning of the business unit's products, services, needs and marketing and communications goals.  This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Building relationships with key members across all levels of the business unit, both in-office and in the field
  • Attending business unit meetings, such as: monthly reviews, sales meetings, business developments, and special projects and initiatives
  • Interacting with customers and visiting job sites in order to gain knowledge, first-hand experience, and gather market, customer, and consumer insights
  • Attending industry events, such as: trade shows, conferences, seminars, training and development
  • Staying informed of latest market research, industry trends, and the competitive landscape
You will be developing marketing and communications strategies and concepts that support growth of the business unit and overall company goals.  This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Marketing products and services, enabling sales, generating qualified leads, advertising, and other market activity
  • Recognizing communications opportunities such as: notable projects, potential press releases/earned media, trade publication ideas, potential blog posts, community relations activities, intercompany stories, etc.
This position also will be managing marketing and communications projects on behalf of the business unit to ensure expectations are met in terms of timelines, budget, and accomplishing desired outcomes.  This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Fully understanding and clearly communicating business units' expectations, objectives, and desired outcomes
  • Frequent meetings and check-ins with marketing and communication team and/or agencies
  • Providing progress reports to business unit, responsibility to ensure realistic timelines and budgets are met
Lastly, the account manager will be reporting results of marketing and communications initiatives and gathering feedback from the business unit.  This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Regular reporting of data gathered regarding digital marketing, website activity, communications, earned media, etc.
  • Annual account performance review to ensure business unit's current and future needs are being met
This might be a good fit for you if you have the following qualifications:
  • Education/Experience
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relative field (business administration, marketing, advertising, etc.)
    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience is required
    • Product marketing and/or product sales experience preferred
  • Skills/Abilities
    • Strategic and creative with great organization
    • Analytical, decision-making and management skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop lasting professional relationships
    • Strong speaking skills and leadership ability
    • Demonstrate a humble confidence/mastery of the marketing discipline
Other things you will experience in this role:
  • Working conditions will consist of time both in-office and outdoors in the field (construction sites, etc.)
  • Standard work-day hours with occasional evening or weekend work and travel (industry functions, trade shows, conferences, etc.)
  • You must be physically capable of navigating various construction facilities and jobsite conditions in a safe manner
  • You will report directly to the Marketing Manager and serve as the liaison for their business unit
