Senior Cost Accountant

We are   searching for a Senior Cost Accountant with strong communication, analytical,   and system process flow skills. This   individual will not only be responsible for the accuracy, internal control,   and system maintenance of the companyís inventory, but also be an advocate   for continual process improvement. Ozinga is looking for an individual with   prior experience to bring value and ideas to the organization with   technology, best practices, and system integration. Additional job duties   include preparing data entry and analysis, reporting, and system maintenance   for products that span over 100 locations.   The role will also require excellent communication skills due to   direct involvement with numerous operation teams to discuss best practices, update   vendor information, discuss inventory discrepancies, explain inventory   analysis performed, and implement company-wide inventory initiatives. The Senior Cost Accountant will report to   the Corporate Inventory Control Manager and will supervise a team that   focuses on the accurate and timely payments of inventory vendors, maintaining   vendor Purchase Orders, and accurately record the purchase and use of miscellaneous   inventory products. Principal   Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Perform month end close activities related to Cost Accounting
  •  Post and maintain inventory general ledger entries
  •  Data capture of material and freight receipts within inventory system
  •  Ensure accuracy of inventory invoices before approval
  •  Process vendor payments by validating material receipt to vendor invoice
  •  Review of exceptions with operations team from invoice validation process
  •  Maintain accurate Purchase Orders for new and existing material and   freight costs.
  •  Fluent in inventory software to record inventory transfers and cost build   up
  •  Update and maintain the inventory system with new products and locations.
  •  Communicate professionally with all staff; incorporate acceptable   computer use practices and proper email etiquette at all times.


  •  Bachelorís Degree in accounting or relevant field.
  •  Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing   Environment
  •  Concrete, building supply or similar experience is preferred.
  •  Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical   skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office software.   Advanced skills in Excel are required.
  •  Critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving skills. 
  •  Ability to understand and use multiple systems related to inventory   control and capable of implementing and using new technology.
  •  Good communication and interpersonal skills in person, over the phone or   email.
  •  Adaptable, flexible, and responds positively to challenges and deadlines.
  •  Highly ethical, dependable, and full of integrity. 

Working   Conditions:

This job   operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses   standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing   cabinets.

While   performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk   or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to   finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this   job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,   depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
