Network Support Technician

Department: Information Technology
Location: Mokena, IL

Primary responsibility is to provide onsite and remote support for our network deployments.  Change is constant and be your job to keep up with the business moves adds and configuration changes.  Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals are necessary.   Additionally, this role also works on other business-related software projects as required.  Secondary responsibility is keeping track of inventories of networking equipment and letting manager know of necessary quantities to order to keep stock for deployments.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Ability to create and modify DHCP scopes and DNS
  • Be able to install/cutover a branch office or remote      site to an LTE (Cradlepoint) or ISP connection
  • Ability to diagnose networking issues/slowness
  • Ability to configure HP enterprise and edge site      switches
  • Provide support to Level 1, Level 2, and field      technicians when needed
  • Prepare      written service reports and other necessary supportive documentation. (Efficient in documenting      network changes.)
  • May      occasionally work outside of the normal business hours
  • Ability      to work quickly as the business often demands changes needed for the next      business day.




  • Understanding of IP address schemes and subnetting
  • Understanding of Firewall Technologies – Forcepoint and      Sonicwall
  • Knowledge of virtual private networks
  • Familiar with web filtering and security technology
  • Understanding of wireless access points and point to      point technologies
  • Knowledge of networking cable types, gbics, and patch      panels is a plus
  • Familiarity with network monitoring solutions is a plus
  • Brief understanding of AutoTask and how to work in a      “ticket” environment
  • Comfortable working with 3rdparty vendors      and attending meetings
  • Overview of VMWare with Windows Server experience is a      plus
  • •      Knowledge of windows networking and troubleshooting techniques: TCP/UDP,      DHCP,DNS,FTP,IP,SSL, HTTP,SSH
  • • Able      to prioritize work based on department and production objectives
  • Ability      to effectively document and communicate ideas, strategies, problems, and      solutions in both verbal and written forms to co-workers and customers.
  • Willingness      to travel to various customer locations as necessary.  Travel will be      minimal, but possible.
  • Work      until the problem is fixed.
  • Willingness      to learn!


Associate s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

• Minimum 3 years of experience working in an information technology related environment

• Network + Certification or equivalent experience/knowledge is recommended
