Mobile Technician

Location: Mokena, IL


The Mobile Device Technical will be responsible for the implementation and support of the various mobile devices used in our fleet. Ozinga operates a fleet of over 750 vehicles in a 4 state area. These vehicles utilize mobile technology to integrate with our dispatch system and provide communication to dispatchers.   This position will provide Level 1 support for all mobile technologies at Ozinga. This position will coordinate work with the fleet mechanics to ensure all mobile devices are working correctly throughout the organization. This individual will be a liaison between the numerous vendors and our internal teams.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Information Technology Responsibilities:                           

  • Provide hardware and software troubleshooting for all mobile devices
  • Work with vendors to ensure devices are provisioned correctly and all documentation is maintained
  • Coordinate procurement of mobile devices and work with Telecom Analyst to ensure all standards and processes are followed
  • Provide setup and support to users on mobile devices including, but not limited to Apple and Android devices
  • Assist in creating, maintaining and rollout procedures and standards for all systems we install
  • Work with the team to create documentation for the systems
  • Keep current with emerging technologies and how they can benefit our environment
  • Coordinate service with outside vendors and mechanics
  • Provide ad-hoc support as required
  • Document work within Autotask and build support knowledgebase
  • Provide training to fleet mechanics on installation and troubleshooting of system
  • Ability to work with various MDM solutions like Intune, Surelock, Airwatch
  • Create ‘HowTo’ training material via documentation and videos
  • Maintain accurate inventory or all mobile devices and where they are deployed
  • Work with vendors to test new hardware and features as necessary
  • Assist with general phone support overflow on the Help Desk line as needed

Customer Satisfaction Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with dispatch, mechanics, technical staff, and all facets of the business to document requirements and fulfil business needs
  • Provide communication to company whenever there are major issues/outages
  • Required to maintain excellent customer rapport
  • Maintain excellent communication with users, staff and management on deadlines and status  
  • Deliver, configure, install and integrate all solutions, to the user’s satisfaction according to the project plan
  • Coordinate plan with key Business Area Managers to ensure successful completion and customer satisfaction
  • Provide project wrap up meetings with business areas to ensure satisfaction and look for opportunities to further enhance the relationship
  • Follow through with business areas to ensure all expectations have been met.
  • Deliver Quality to the users

Time Management Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and management of direct reports time
  • Timely preparation of monthly status reports
  • Utilize time efficiently, maintain costs by reducing overtime whenever possible and avoid “Over Committing”


Qualified candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, project management skills, be detail oriented, self-motivated, and be a team player. Candidate must have expert knowledge of Samsung, Apple, Android and iOS technologies. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

A valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Preferred Skills

Proficiencies with the Microsoft suite of products, Hardware trouble shooting, basic programming skills and knowledgeable with a variety of mobile products. Experience supporting GPS devices, installation of mobile solutions in vehicles and mobile device management solutions like Surelock and Airwatch. Prior experience working with help desk solutions like Autotask, the ability to speak in fluent Spanish and general mechanical skills are all pluses.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in both a professional office environment as well as an outdoor environment. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, dirt and outside weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
