Credit and Collections Agent - Mokena - 2022

Department: 110 - Accounts Receivable/Collections
Location: Mokena, IL


The Credit & Collection Agent is responsible for the collection of outstanding Accounts Receivable. This position will collaborate within the department to address disputes, process liens and waivers and oversee customer account management. The Credit & Collection Agent will communicate with customers, sales, and operations to provide customer service while actively collecting past due balances.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Initiate communication to ensure timely collection of payments on assigned customer accounts with appropriate follow up
  • Document and report collection activities to Senior Management via internal reports and guidelines
  • Review and process lien waivers, lien notices, and customer credit inquiries upon request
  • Identify and research disputed items preventing or delaying payment on assigned accounts, working with customer and sales as needed to reconcile accounts to reduce overall delinquency
  • Complying with and enforcing company policies as required in order to reduce customer delinquency, maximize sales, and maintain positive customer business relationships
  • Participate in Credit Trade Group meeting and discussions to keep informed on current industry events and trends

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • High school degree or its equivalent required; Bachelorís degree preferred


  • Minimum 5 years of Customer Service or Accounts Receivable/Collections related background preferred


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain integrity of confidential information
  • Ability to apply reasonable judgment to carry out instructions in written or oral form
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced mathematical skills

Working Conditions:

  • Operation within a professional office environment
  • Routine usage of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally lifts 10-15 pounds
