Learning and Development Specialist - Mokena - 2021

Department: 106 - Talent Acquisition & Development
Location: Mokena, IL

Summary:
Ozinga is seeking a confident individual passionate about expanding learning and development within the organization. This is an opportunity to work with people who want to create a positive impact on coworkers while living our values of service, learning, and entrepreneurship. The Learning & Development Specialist will help coordinate and support the progress and delivery of effective learning and development programs and initiatives within/of the Learning & Development department.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ongoing development of workplace diversity and inclusion training, supporting D&I strategy, encouraging a positive commitment to a more diverse and inclusive workplace culture
  • Help implement Learning Management System (LMS), supporting broad organizational needs with adoption
  • Assign L&D plans and run reports within LMS; provide assistance to users as necessary/able
  • Learn and maintain Gallup Access platform and DiSC training account to track, report and analyze data
  • Support creation and maintenance of Career Development Action Plans (CDAP), quarterly performance reviews and succession plans across organization
  • Individual contributor to quarterly newsletter, creating content about past and upcoming L&D initiatives
  • Support annual Coworker Experience Survey with distribution, collection and reporting of surveys/data
  • Collaborate with Communications department to promote relevant courses for learning opportunities and drive communication plan around L&D
  • Maintain various vendor relationships; stay current on the latest L&D trends
  • Manage annual training calendar; support other learning & development, HR and organizational goals and initiatives annually

Global Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
  • This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs

Qualifications:

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelorís/Undergraduate degree or equivalent in HR, Business, Education or similar
  • Some knowledge of personality/behavioral assessments such as CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder), MBTI and/or DiSC
  • Confident user of Learning Management System (LMS) preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years working in Learning & Development or in a classroom environment
  • At least 1 year working with adult learners and/or in career planning
  • Diversity and inclusion (D&I) task force and supporting annual engagement surveys a plus

Skills/Abilities:

  • Self-motivated owner of projects; outgoing personality to help form and maintain internal coworker relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills, including ease of collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, and influencers within the organization
  • Thrive working both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and grow; tech savvy and future-oriented
  • Must be discreet, as position requires the handling of confidential information
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)    

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally asked to visit production facilities, be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions; employees may be asked to transport themselves using a personal vehicle
  • Noise level is usually moderate but can be high and may require personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants, and laboratories
  • Operation within a professional office environment
  • Routine usage of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
  • Able to remain calm in high pressure situations
  • Daily use of standard office equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
