Senior Inventory Cost Accountant

Department: 112 - Inventory Management
Location: Mokena, IL

*Bachelorís Degree in Accounting or relevant field required


The Senior Inventory Cost Accountant is responsible for the financial accuracy of the companyís material inventory. Prepare data analysis, reporting and accounting system maintenance for all products and materials across all Ozinga locations. Data entry and record maintenance for all products and materials in the inventory system. Resolve discrepancies and communicate with operations team in order to keep accurate records.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Incoming System Processes:

    • OnBase ticket maintenance
    • Material Ticket Website
    • Daily ticket entry
    • Invoice-ticket exception reporting
    • Solomon products and site setup
    • Material and hauling costs

Usage System Processes:

    • Audit usage numbers to ensure accuracy
    • COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)
    • Shrink accrual
    • Create process to relieve inventory daily

Project Management:

    • New ERP System (Enterprise Resource Planning)
    • Code matching or mapping with Quadrel/Integra
    • Extra items/architectural products integrated into inventory system
    • Automation of COGs process

Employee Progress & Relations:

  • Design and implement controls to improve accuracy and timeliness of data entry regarding receipts, adjustments, transfers and issues from inventory
  • Design and implement more user-friendly query and retrieval tools from ERP regarding information needed to make more timely decisions regarding inventory
  • Validate pricing on vendor statements

Global Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelorís degree in accounting or relevant field required
  • Strong cost systems background and excellent analytical skills
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles


  • Minimum of 2 years of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Concrete, building supply or similar experience preferred


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand and use multiple systems related to inventory control and capable of implementing and using new technology
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
