Plant Manager - Henry, IL - 2021

Department: 230 - Plant Op
Location: Henry, IL

Summary:

The Plant Manager is responsible for the daily management and operations of the plant.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  General management of materials (aggregates, cement, etc.) and concrete products (fibers, colors, etc.)
  •  Monitor production volumes and keep finished products within specifications, work with QC to keep product correct
  •  Clean and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment, bins, carts, and conveyors
  •  Maintain stockpile storage to ensure inventory is not segregated
  •  Openly and effectively communicate with all production personnel to operate plant smoothly and efficiently

Global Responsibilities:

  •  Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
  •  This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs

Qualifications: Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  •  High School Diploma or equivalent required
  •  Knowledge of operation of an aggregate plant required

Experience:

  •  Experience and knowledge of wash plants and aggregate operating systems

Skills/Abilities:

  • Active listening skills, able to receive instructions and read work orders to complete work assignments
  •  Basic computer skills and ability to use smart phones
  •  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  •  Maintain all safety precautions for all work environments
  •  Flexible in work assignments; open to working in multiple areas as necessary to get the job done

Working Conditions:

  •  Fast paced environment with a need to respond to ever changing scenarios
  •  Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions
  •  Noise level is usually moderate but can be high and requires personal hearing protections on occasion at job sites, plants, and laboratories

Physical Requirements:

  •  Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  •  Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  •  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  •  Operate buttons, levers, and other various mobile equipment
  •  Work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure
  •  Must be able to frequently bend to obtain samples from stockpiles or ground, climb ladders with buckets of admixtures, and push wheelbarrows of concrete
  •  Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time
  •  Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary
  •  Must be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards, and jobsites as necessary
  •  Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds several times a day
