Inventory Specialist (Seasonal / Temporary) - Mokena 2021

Department: 112 - Inventory Management
Location: Mokena, IL

Summary: The Inventory Specialist is responsible for data entry, reporting and accounting system maintenance for all products and materials across all Ready-Mix concrete locations. This is a temporary/seasonal role. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

Inventory Management: 

  • Complete entries and analyze material cost of goods sold, and report findings 

  • Post and maintain general ledger entries 

  • Review information and ensure accuracy on vendor statements before payments are made 

  • Enter material receipts into inventory system to include cementitious material, aggregates, admixtures, fuel and bagged product while also tracking all freight costs 

  • Process vendor payments by validating material receipt to vendor invoice 

  • Obtain approval for new material and freight costs or changes in cost 

  • Update and maintain the inventory system with new products and locations 

Employee Relations: 

  • Reconcile any exceptions found during invoice validation which may include collaboration with the Operations team 

Global Responsibilities: 

  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position 

  • This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs 

Qualifications: 

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelorís degree in Accounting or relevant field preferred 

Experience: 

  • Concrete, building supply or similar experience is preferred 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills over the phone and through email 

  • Ability to understand and use multiple systems related to inventory control and capable of implementing and use new technology 

  • Adaptable and flexible to respond positively to challenges and deadlines 

  • Critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving abilities 

Working Conditions: 

  • Operation within a professional office environment
  • Routine usage of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
  • No travel required

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
