Cementitious Materials Outside Sales Representative - 2021

Department: 500 - Sales
Location: Mokena, IL

The Outside Sales Representative will promote and sell Cementitious Materials to customers 
including general contractors, highway contractors, concrete contractors, poured-wall contractors, 
commercial and residential flatwork contractors, civil contractors specializing in soil work and 
other contractors who require cementitious materials for various applications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a reasonable sales forecast for customers that will enable the Company to reach profit goals
  • Identifies, develops, and maintains new and existing customers
  • Evaluates bid opportunities to determine the most cost-effective quotation proposal while understanding geographical constraints and supply availability
  • Works closely with operations to ensure customer volume and quality demands can be met
  • Handles customer questions, issues, and concerns and seeks to resolve in a cost effective and timely manner
  •  Prepares timely and accurate reports as requested
  •  Attends regular sales meetings
  • Communicates changes to project quantities or delivery schedules in a timely manner
  • Participates in local, state, and national trade organizations as needed
  • Visits job sites regularly to receive customer feedback and ensure customers demands are being met
  • Assists with accounts receivables, as necessary, for customers that are behind on paying invoices in accordance with the company A/R guidelines
  • Participate in company safety program

  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelorís degree in business, engineering, sales, marketing, construction management or construction related field strongly preferred
  • Some knowledge of concrete, including mix designs, strengths and placing techniques
  • Some knowledge of Supplementary Cementitious materials including, but not limited to, fly ash, slag, natural pozzolans, metakaolin, lime kiln dust and cement kiln dust


  •   Minimum 5 years sales experience in Cementitious Materials Sales for construction industry
  •  Demonstrated ability to develop new accounts and implement sales plan


  • Work effectively with co-workers and customers
  • Use effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents such as scientific and technical journals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software; strong organizational and time management skills

Working Conditions:

  •  Operation within a professional office environment
  •  Operation within job site which includes outdoors includes some exposure to extremes in temperature, moisture, dust, and noise
  •  Driving to your assigned territory and visiting job sites; travel required 50% of the time
  •  Occasional exposure to moving equipment and machinery parts, photocopiers and filing cabinets

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  •  Must be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards, and jobsites as necessary
